Sesamoid Injury Can Mean Disaster
Modern diagnostics and good horsemanship could detect a problem before a breakdown occurs. Dr. Gregory Beroza was the first veterinarian to come to the aid of Chris Antley and Charismatic when the colt fractured the sesamoid bones in his left foreleg near the finish line in the 1999 Belmont Stakes.
